Edition 8 - Numbers Game

Welcome back once again, everyone.

In edition 8 of Linx Media’s newsletter, we’re going to talk about how it all comes down to the numbers: number of hours you work, number of calls you make, number of emails sent. Basically, it all comes down to the universal law that we all already know: THE MORE YOU PUT IN, THE MORE YOU GET OUT.

As we mentioned last week, we are transitioning from just ‘winging it’ to implementing a specific plan of attack. A huge part of this plan, and in any business really, is OUTREACH. As good as word of mouth is, it's not going to take your business to the top. It's all the stuff nobody wants to do: all the cold calls, cold emails, and the rest of the boring stuff that comes with business.

Now, over the last week, we have been trialling several methods of outreach including cold calls, cold messages, emails, and DMs. The biggest thing we’ve learned already is that it's all just a big NUMBERS GAME. The more calls, messages, and emails sent, the more responses, the more meetings, the more contracts, the more clients, the more money, the more success.

Now, depending on your type of business, the numbers will be slightly different, but generally speaking, the numbers you have to be putting up are BIG! For us this week, we sent over 600 emails, 200 messages, and made probably around 50 calls. Is this enough? Absolutely not. From this, maybe about 10% pick up or respond to messages, and of those 10%, maybe only 10% show the slightest bit of interest. Without waffling on about 10% this, 10% that, the point is, THE MORE YOU PUT IN, THE MORE YOU GET OUT.

This concept applies to everything in life. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. People seem to be afraid to get after it and take opportunities because they are worried about what people might think. The absolute truth is that the possibility of rejection when taking that chance or asking that question really doesn’t change the situation you are already in. If a client says no or you don’t get that thing you were asking for, you’re not in any worse spot than you already were. So, the more girls you talk to, the more dates you’ll go on. The more jobs you apply for, the more likely you’ll get a good response from an employer.

Also, some pretty big news and a pretty big milestone for Linx Media: one of us has resigned from our part-time jobs and is now officially full-time for Linx Media. Whilst it’s still very much early days, this feels like a pretty big achievement for us to be able to put 100% focus into our business.
