Edition 27 - Reflecting on the Journey So Far

Welcome to Edition 27 of the Linx Media Weekly Newsletter! This week, we’re going to take a step back and reflect on our journey from starting Linx Media 7 Months Ago Starting a business is never easy, and beginning this journey as two 18-year-olds straight out of high school added layers of excitement, unpredictability, and undeniable challenge. We want to take a moment to reflect on some of the milestones and key learnings we’ve had so far, especially for those of you who have followed us from the beginning.

When we launched Linx Media, we had plenty of ambition and big ideas, but we were also jumping headfirst into unknown territory. Whilst we were filled with ambition and driven by big goals, we also started Linx Media essentially with the expectation that it would fail. Or maybe just the expectation it wasn’t going to make us millionaires. But regardless, the purpose of starting, at the time, was purely just to learn ‘how to start a business’. Coming straight from school, we were aware that we’d have to learn quickly and adapt often. At the start, everything was a new experience—finding clients, understanding the business world itself, and developing our branding strategies. There was a few things that came easy and clicked like finding our way around social media, but for the major part, we had no idea about what we were doing. We soon found ourselves immersed in learning everything from setting up the business, to client acquisition and outreach and understanding how to grow and improve.

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned along the way is the importance of just moving forward, small steps, big steps, just keep moving forward. There were days where things did’t go as planned, and certainly not as smooth sailing as the good days. But you need the bad days to appreciate the good ones and we have learnt that you need to have all of the setbacks to a LEARN how to overcome them. Each challenge taught us valuable skills: patience, adaptability, and the ability to stay focused on the bigger picture. With every project, and every new client, we were able to learn what works, what didn’t and build our systems and processes better and better.

Another major takeaway has been the power of community and networking. Early on, we were fortunate to meet mentors and connect with professionals who offered support, guidance, and even just some friendly feedback. It’s these connections and conversations that helped us push forward and grow. We’ve also been incredibly grateful to work with amazing clients who trust us to bring their vision to life, allowing us to experiment, refine our skills, and learn with each project.

Today, Linx Media is much more than a digital agency; it’s a testament to what’s possible when you start with a goal and keep at it. And as we look to the future, we’re excited about the endless potential and all the new heights we can reach. Thank you for being part of this journey, and here’s to many more milestones!
