Edition 2 - Getting Started
Welcome back, everyone!
Let's kick Edition 2 off with a quick recap of last week.
In the early stages of our business journey, we find much of our time focused on the grind of editing, researching, and honing specific skills. While much of our time may seem lonely and monotonous, there have been exciting developments. We reached out to and submitted proposals to a couple of potential clients, that hopefully translate into active clients as soon as possible. We also explored the possibility of bringing aboard some of our close friends to join us in our venture and help us grow. While nothing is official yet, the prospect of collaborating with our close mates to expand our capabilities is very exciting.
Now, onto some key takeaways and lessons from the week:
Your Network is Your NET WORTH!
We cannot stress this enough: surrounding yourself with people who are going to help you grow is invaluable. Now we understand the potential rejection or judgment can be daunting, but embracing opportunities and networking has consistently propelled us forward. We wouldn’t be anywhere near where we are now if it wasn’t for the both both of us utilising our networks and connections. As the saying goes, "It's not just about what you know, but who you know."
^Absolute Gold^
Consistency is Key: Seize Every Opportunity
Without a doubt there is going to be times when you don’t want to do something you should be doing, its guaranteed . However, the difference between those who just think and talk about getting somewhere and those who actually achieve it is in their commitment to showing up every day. Case in point: One Sunday night we were dreading going to the gym and filming… but we did, and from getting off our asses and going anyways we met these two young lads on an entrepreneurial journey just like ourselves which has grown into a beneficial relationship for the both of us (also building our network). Just by showing up that Sunday night we’ve grown our network which has brought us more work and got us in front of more people.
Areas of Improvement:
Something we’ve noticed a fair bit recently is whilst being very productive, spending time looking after our existing and oncoming clients & preparing for future, we have noticed some of the smaller but still significant tasks get overlooked. E.g by keeping ourselves busy with current clients etc we have been less proactive in following up to set meetings with new people.
Another thing we have not neglected but also not nurtured as much as we should have is the Web Design and SEO side of the business. We have done next to no out reach for these services, focusing our attention very heavily to the videography and social media aspects.
The good thing is that we are conscious of these and are going to change that as our main messages from this week is to take every opportunity and network. By embracing these lessons and addressing our areas for improvement, we look forward to a week of growth and progress.
Yours Truly,
Wallace & Sarge
