Edition 15 - Productivity

Welcome to Edition 15 of our weekly newsletter! This week, we're diving into the topic of productivity and how your environment and planning can make a significant difference.

The Power of Your Environment

Have you ever noticed how a cluttered workspace can make you feel overwhelmed and less productive? It's not just in your head! Your environment plays a crucial role in how effectively you can work. Here are some tips to optimise your workspace:

Declutter Regularly: Keep only the essentials on your desk. A clean workspace can help clear your mind and improve focus.

Natural Light: If possible, position your workspace near a window. Natural light boosts mood and energy levels.

Ergonomics: Ensure your chair, desk, and computer setup are comfortable and promote a good posture.

Something we’ve learnt from a book called “Atomic Habits” (Great book highly recommend), is that whether you realise it or not the brain links certain habits with certain environments. For Example your brain associates your bedroom with sleep, your desk with work, and the kitchen with cooking/eating etc. So making sure your workspace is someone you associate with getting work done is very important.

Planning: Your Productivity Blueprint

Having a plan is like having a roadmap for your day. It helps you stay on track and ensures you make the most of your time. Here’s how to create an effective plan:

Daily Goals: Start your day by listing your top 3 priorities. Focus on these tasks first.

Time Blocking: Allocate specific time slots for different tasks. This method helps in managing your time efficiently and avoiding multitasking.

Breaks: Schedule short breaks to recharge. A quick walk or a coffee break can do wonders for your productivity.

Some things that we have found that have helped us with our productivity is writing out all the tasks you have to get done the night before. Some use a strategy called a ‘Power List’ where your write down 5 most important things that you HAVE to complete for your day to be successful and anything beyond that is extra, but the point is that writing things down and having a clear plan is very effective.

Additional Productivity Tips

Quality Sleep: Ensure you're getting enough rest. A well-rested mind is more focused and efficient.

Stay Hydrated: Keep a water bottle at your desk. Hydration is key to maintaining energy levels.

Exercise: Regular physical activity can boost your mood and cognitive function.

Just a friendly reminder that there are multiple factors/areas of life that you need to dominate. Whilst lots and lots of work is absolutely necessary, sitting at the laptop for 14 hours a day is not the best way to become very successful. Go to the gym, go for a walk, get a good sleep, all of these things together is what creates a successful person.

Our Experience

We've found that optimising our environment and having a clear plan significantly boosts our productivity. Whether it's a tidy workspace or a well-structured day, these small changes have a big impact on our efficiency and allow us to actually get work done. Whilst having a business that you can just about run from underneath the blankets is cool, its also not a productive space whatsoever.

That's it for this week! We hope these tips help you create a more productive environment and plan your days more effectively. As always, we're here to support you in achieving your goals.

Stay productive and see you next week!

Best,
