Edition 14 - Direction

Hello again to the real ones who open this email every week.

This week is going to be a little different. Instead of the usual lesson that we’ve learned, which you may or may not find interesting, we’re going to try and relate to you all. Why would you follow someone's journey if you couldn’t relate to them at all, right?

Now, the topic of this week's newsletter is DIRECTION. We’re willing to bet that at some point in your life—physically, mentally, financially, or in any other metric—you’ve felt a little lost, lacking some direction. You might’ve been unsure whether to stay in your current job or take the risk and start something new. You might’ve not known whether the right move was to move in with the new chick or guy. The point is that you can’t know everything all the time. Anyway, enough waffling—where are we actually going with all of this?

To start with, the reason we’re talking about this is that when we sat down at the laptop, we had no idea what this newsletter was going to be about. Contemplating what to type out to try and provide some valuable insights and lessons that we genuinely learn shouldn’t be that difficult. Once again, what’s the point? The point is that even though we feel as though we’ve got nothing, no ideas for what to publish in the next 24 hours, you’re still receiving this email in your inbox. Even with no idea, it’s still back to the basics, one foot in front of the other.

On a broader note, with the whole spectrum of things, it’s the same concept of lacking some direction, constantly trying to figure out what the next best move is. A little more insight: currently, we are in the process of setting up and launching another business with a very close partner of ours, Moby Adams. While Linx Media is holding strong and the setup processes are all rolling smoothly, it has almost discombobulated us to where we don’t actually know what the next best move is. Is it to prioritize the new business which has a greater scaling potential? Is it to continue to focus on growing Linx Media? Is it to cut one off completely? (The last one’s a bit extreme, but it gets the point across.) The truth is we’ve got no idea what the next best move is. All we know at the moment is that one foot NEEDS to go in front of the other.

There’s a short story from a book called “The Horse, the Boy, the Fox, and the Mole” that roughly goes as follows: “The horse and the boy are in a forest, and the boy says, ‘I can’t see a way through.’ The horse says, ‘Can you see your next step?’ The boy goes, ‘Yes,’ and the horse says, ‘Then just take that.’” Yes, we know you’re not a horse, and probably not a young boy either, but the moral of the story is to just take the next step when the path doesn’t seem as clear as it usually does.

Are we some geniuses who have just discovered fire? Absolutely not, but maybe you’re in a similar situation at the moment, and maybe you’re not sure what the next best move is. All we can hope is that this is merely a potential reminder just to keep taking the next step, and eventually, the path to where you want to go will reveal itself.

That’s all for this week. We hope there’s some value in here for you still reading.

Warm regards,

Linx Media
